Board of Directors

Evan Mueller, Director of Water and Energy

Hello, my name is Evan Mueller and I am third year chemical engineering student. I joined ESW fall quarter of my sophomore because I was looking for a project based organization that was making projects to help the environment specifically in the energy field. After joining, I learned about the wonderful community that ESW has and the amazing opportunities that ESW has to offer. As your director of water and energy, I hope to be able to help the projects in any way possible to reach their fullest potential. I work with alongside the project leaders in the water and energy projects to make sure they reach their deadlines and provide them with the resources that they need to their projects. I look forward to the year as we try to make our school and our world a more sustainable place!

Zi Deng, Director of Solar

Hi, My name Zi Deng, some people call me Mikey. I am a 2nd year Electrical Engineering Major from Muir College. I think sustainability should be the most important thing for people to care about right now. People have to realize that no matter what amazing innovations that we make, none of them will matter unless we figure out a way to make them sustainable. That’s why I was amazed when I found out about ESW; an organization dedicated to the importance of sustainability. I immediately joined and became a part of the Solar Light project. Now, as Director of Solar Projects my job is to manage and help you Solar Projects within ESW! Other interests I have include manga, video games and listening to music or playing music.

If you have any questions for me, email me at zkdeng@ucsd.edu or find me on Facebook!

Elaine Silverman, Director of Resource Management

Hello! I’m Elaine, a first year majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I joined ESW in my first quarter at UCSD because I wanted to find a way to apply engineering to environmental applications and have an opportunity to gain experience on a project team. What I found in ESW is an extraordinarily welcoming community and an incredibly wide variety of opportunities ranging from industry tours and professional development to camping trips. As the Director of Resource Management Projects, I work with the project leaders under this category to ensure the progress and success of the projects.

If you have questions about any of the current resource management projects, have an idea for a new one, or just want to chat, please feel free to contact me at ecsilver@ucsd.edu.

Dora Trieu, Secretary of Board

Hello, my name is Dora Trieu and I am a second year majoring in Bioengineering. I joined ESW because I really like the idea of building things that promote sustainability. There are really cool projects in this club that I would have never thought would be possible like building a 3D printer that uses plastic bottles as printing material, or designing and building a solar light car from scratch! I have just joined a project team and I am super excited about all of the skills that I will learn. I am the board secretary so I stay informed about what is going on with the project teams and events going on within the club.
